about

New boss, Old boss
Everything is patterns, all things are relative,
Nothing new under the sun are the sayings that come to mind when I think about the concept of this song. So much of the negativity that life throws your way starts to look all the same. It's cliche to a point. So I can now clown, call out and laugh at these things when they're in view. I'm better suited to navigate the terrain knowing what I know now. And shine brilliantly whatever obstacles against me.

lyrics

New boss, Old boss

Written by Super King Armor/Enrae L. Mercer

Chorus

New boss same as the old boss
Go find yourself a cliff and jump the fuck off
I’ve heard this shit all before, demons just morph
I’m playing for keeps and purely for sport(1x)

Verse 1
You’re one self centered human being
To think your opinion outweighs a person's dreams
When I was 23 a dude came to me
Said no one’s interested hearing you MC
When I was 28, I had to face
Rapping at that age maybe big mistake
For most of my career they said I was weird
My music was too smart for people to hear
Olympian heights is all that I seek
Sill doubting my goals and my reach?
I have a paper trail and kept all my receipts
Jordan in Utah, Kobe in Boston
Paul Pierce in the Garden your silence is golden
Who am I? The Martyr, Super King Armor
Self published author, touring globetrotter
I’m that nigga bet’cha bottom dollar!

Chorus

New boss same as the old boss
Go find yourself a cliff and jump the fuck off
I’ve heard this shit all before, demons just morph
I’m playing for keeps and purely for sport(2x)

Verse 2
But on the real, fuck the haters
This is for everyone who showed love
Not for the shallow bitches in the club
To the people who bought my album and my book
To the people who left me money not expecting a look
To the women who brought food to a homeless stranger
Your charity and kindness not knowing if there was a sense of danger
My observation is sharp I don’t miss a beat
Long way from the days I couldn’t ride a beat
First they was like your name is too long
And what’s the gimmick with all of that face paint on
Bitch, I’m comfortable in my own fucking skin
Not my fault you surround yourself with ordinary men
Entrepreneur I harness my gifts
Back away from my aura your too close to it
Stop acting so familiar we're not friends, we're associates!

Chorus

New boss same as the old boss
Go find yourself a cliff and jump the fuck off
I’ve heard this shit all before, demons just morph
I’m playing for keeps and purely for sport(4x)
